A Unitary Patent is based on the European patent granted by the European Patent Office (EPO) under the rules of the European Patent Convention (EPC). After a European patent is granted, the patent proprietor can request unitary effect, thereby getting a European patent with unitary effect (Unitary Patent) that provides uniform patent protection in 18 EU member states. The Unitary Patent system has been effective since June 1, 2023, and this report shows its development to this day (Data as of October 16, 2024).
