Proceedings on registration for unitary effect requested by Russian patent holders to be stayed in view of latest EU sanctions against Russia
Following publication of the 14th EU package on sanctions against Russia through Council Regulation (EU) 2024/1745, the EPO stays proceedings on registration of unitary effect resulting from requests filed or co-filed by Russian patent holders falling under the scope of this sanctions package until further notice.

CNIPA extends PPH pilot programs with ISIPO and EGYPO again respectively
In a bid to continue providing applicants with efficient and convenient Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) services, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) has agreed with the Icelandic Intellectual Property Office (ISIPO) and the Egyptian Patent Office (EGYPO) to extend their PPH pilot programs respectively for another five years, from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2029.
