Uruguay adheres to the Patent Cooperation Treaty

On July 11, 2024, Uruguay adhered to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) after a lengthy consultation process. According to the government, this decision, unanimously approved by both chambers of the Uruguayan Parliament, is expected to simplify the patenting process and reduce costs for domestic inventors and innovators seeking protection in other countries.
