Introduction
Every patent in the world is important. Whether from a state of the art or from a protective position, every patent is important. How strange is it then that there is no data product that provides access to all patents in the world?
That thought led to the creation of the Diamond File. To create a real global insight into all patents in the world. Not just the 50 that are provided by the patent offices (because that creates a false sense of security) – but of all authorities in the world.
We are pleased to introduce to you the Diamond File. Insight into 170 authorities for bibliographic data and over 120* for up‐to‐date status information.

As we are a content provider our delivery methods and media are fully adjusted to the processes that you may already have in place. Our standard delivery is in XML based on WIPO Standard 36 with original documents in multipage PDF, but also JSON or a wide variety of text and image formats are available. Our aim is to provide you with the content you need, in the way that you need it in the easiest implementable form.
Process
Sourcing and producing patent data is quite a complex process. The more one explores, the more challenges one faces. Our core business is creating patent and trademark information and through the years we have put processes in place to ensure our customer get high quality data in an agreed format, as soon as possible after publication by the national offices.
There have been no delays or hick-ups in our data producing processes in past years, as the entire workflow is cloud-based, enabling our employees to cooperate worldwide in an easy manner.
Story about the product
Lighthouse IP is focused on sourcing and creating unique patent content. Our processes cover all steps from the actual sourcing of patent documents (for several countries still starting from paper) to the final delivery of a complete collection of uniformly formatted and digitally accessible versions of the patent collection of an authority.
All content that we create is machine translated into English so that a complete patent record consists of a multipage PDF file containing the full document, an XML document containing the bibliographic (front page) data with title and abstract plus the full description* of the document with the related translation**.
* Full description in searchable format for patent documents are available for 81 countries.
** Translations are created either using full machine translation technology or human-aided machine translation technology.
